In 1986, the group got their first taste of success in the form of Selena was awarded Female Vocalist of the Year and The Best Performer Award at the Tejano music awards. Selena Y Los Dinos continued to be among the winners of Tejano awards for music, which led to their increasing popularity and recognition.
